I will not be afraid

Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense; He has become my salvation.” Isaiah 12:2

I will trust and not be afraid: This is a confident statement reflecting the attitude of a person who put their trust and hope in God and not in themselves. He is deciding to trust and not be afraid.

When God is our salvation, we can trust and not be afraid. This peace and security comes from knowing that God is our salvation. When the Lord is our strength, it means that He is our resource, He is our refuge, He is our delight. We look to Him for our needs and are never unsatisfied.

When we declare that we will trust in God and will not fear we are proclaiming:

  • I will not fear the past. I have a glorious future in Christ Jesus.
  • I will not fear the present as the Lord is in control of my life. Nothing happens to me without His knowledge.
  • I will not fear the future as my God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Psalm 56:3 says, “Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in you.” We serve a great God who divided the Red Sea and made the Israelites walk through dry land. Be still. Stand strong. Fear not. You will not be ashamed. He will make a way where there seems to be no way!

Always remember, no one who trusts in the Lord will ever be disgraced (Psalm 25: 3).
