INDWELLING OF CHRIST

That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in Love Ephesians 3:17

One of the most precious things we can offer God is our Faith. Faith is a magnet that attracts God’s personal presence in our lives. We get to experience the person of Christ by believing in Him, through faith in Him.

“Dwell” uses the ancient Greek word for a permanent home. Jesus wants to settle down in our hearts, not just visit as a stranger. Through personal indwelling in his people, He is a  king unto his people, He rules and protects them, He becomes the master in the family to provide for them, and He becomes the guiding light to show the right path. He becomes the wisdom that prompts us on what actions to take when we do not know what to do. The glory of the indwelling Jesus is something for us to know and we can only receive it by faith. It is there for us but must be taken hold of through faith.

We need the Spirit of God to empower us to get out of spiritual lethargy and let Christ live at home in our hearts. We need His personal presence in our lives. To Christ be dominant and be the Lord in our lives, our attitudes and behaviour must centre on our Lord.

Paul specifically prays to dwell in our hearts not in our minds or in our heads. As the Bible says in Proverbs 4:3  out of heart flows the issues of life. Heart is where no good thing dwells but when we invite Christ into our hearts through Faith he fills it with his grace.

Paul asked that all this would take place as when we are rooted and grounded in love. “Two expressions are used: ‘rooted,’ like a living tree which lays hold upon the soil, twists itself round the rocks, and cannot be upturned: ‘grounded,’ like a building which has been settled, as a whole, and will never show any cracks or flaws in the future through failures in the foundation.”

Have you lost your heart for fellowship with God or serving Him? Then you need two things:

The Spirit of God to strengthens you in the inner man and For you to allow Christ to live at home in your spirit.
