Jesus the Attorney

Romans 8:34 – “Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.”

One of the worst feelings we can have is guilt.  And for us to feel guilty, there has to be an accuser.  But “Even if we feel guilty God is greater than our feelings, and He knows everything.” (1 John 3:30)

There are plenty of successful attorneys throughout history who have become known for the cases they have won.  Well, do you think that any of them would be able to absolve you and me from the Righteous Judge? From the hand of God? No human being would be able to absolve or condemn us when Christ is our Advocate!  Yes, Jesus Christ is our Advocate, our Attorney!  We need to remind ourselves daily that there is absolutely “no one” who will condemn us.

Isaiah prophesied about the authority of Jesus: “Who will dare to contend with Me? Let us confront each other! Who has a case against Me? Let him approach Me.” (Isaiah 50:8)

Jesus is our friend. A friend like no other. A friend who has already died for us, who is sitting at the right hand of God, constantly interceding for us, and “the only one” who has the power to save us.  It is He who looks at us and says: you are mine and no one will be able to condemn you, or take you away from me – not even death – because “I” conquered death!
