Saying is Believing

Romans 10:9 – “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

“And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them:Then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.” (John 20:26)

It is easy to picture the scene of awe and fear when Thomas was face to face with the Resurrected Jesus. To be able to touch the nail pierced hands, mesmerized, and probably feeling very small. Thomas had to see Jesus to believe that He was raised from the dead.

You and I don’t have to do that. And Jesus calls us blessed, because we have not seen Him, but we believe. (John 20:29)  When “we believe with with our heart, we are justified” (Romans 10:10); but we also need to declare and confess with our mouth.  We need to say that “Jesus is the Son of God.” When we say it, God abides in us, and we in God. (1 John 4:15)

And when we have the Spirit of God living within us, we become prepared to face all trials that the world will throw at us.  As is it written: “Who then overcomes the world? Only he (you and I) who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.” (1 John 5:5)

So:

Confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus,

Believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead,

And you will be saved!
