Living Hope

1 Peter 1:3 – “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”

What a day of rejoicing it would have been! The disciples and Jesus’s closest followers had thought Jesus had died once and for all. They hadn’t expected Him to come alive again and physically meet them face to face. Their pain turned to joy; their grief turned to celebration. The disciples might have been hopeless before, but when they saw Jesus, their hope came alive again.

All of us have had our hopes dashed at some point in life or the other. People let us down, dreams crumble, our hard work goes in vain… We may feel hopeless, but we are never without hope. If we put our faith in our talents, skills, abilities, expertise, our job, bank balance or even the people around us, we may be disappointed. But hope in the Lord Jesus Christ is never in vain.

Even if things aren’t going the way you expect right now, you can still hope for a glorious future because the Lord has promised it (Jeremiah 29:11). Jesus paid the ultimate price so you could spend eternity with Him. Will He not take care of your life here on earth? This Easter Sunday, trust the Lord to resurrect your life as well, and restore your hope and future.
