Our authority in Christ

Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
Galatians 4:7 NKJV

It is a universal truth, that we belong to Jesus, for what belongs to the father belongs to His children. As a believer our identity enables us to walk in authority we have been given. God not only created us but gave us an identity we couldn’t earn nor will we ever deserve. He called us His children.

Imagine if we didn’t have an identity, what would it be like? For example, according to the theory of evolution- if we all just randomly came into existence, once as a monkey, or an ape there would be no purpose, nothing to work towards, no love, nothing to look up to.. Our entire existence would be meaningless. The world we live in is stripping God of everything and trying to establish a generation with no identity. This is the spiritual battle of today’s times, it is an identity war the satan is stirring up. Without an identity we feel powerless, useless, lost and unidentified. God created us to be the way we are with an identity so that we could use the authority we have been given appropriately. Otherwise we could be a dog, a rat or an ape and live life with no morale conduct. That would allow us to do whatever we felt like and create absolute chaos and imbalance in the world.

In today’s world this is our problem- we either avoid or abuse the authority given to us. Let us learn to identify ourselves with our heavenly Father who loves us, a creator who is perfect, an all-knowing God who provides from His riches and glory. Know your identity in Christ for everything else under the sun we identify ourselves with is vanity, for it is in Christ alone we will be the children of God, an identity that will last now and forevermore!
