PRAY BELIEVING WHAT YOU ASK FOR

Mark 11:24

Therefore I say to you whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” (Mark 11:24 BSB)

“And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” (Matthew 21:22 KJV)

It is surprising how a verb tense can change the meaning of this biblical truth. We could combine all these versions and say: “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believing that you have received it, you will have them.”

For sure God is not going to give us just anything according to our own (selfish) will; but He will be delighted to give us everything according to His will, because His will is “good, perfect and pleasing”. Our focus has to be on Him, and on eternity, in order for us to receive what we ask for in prayer.

A prayer of repentance will always be heard and answered, God will always forgive us when we truly repent. Remember that “the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22-23). So, if we pray for love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, and so on, God will definitely give us all these, because these please Him and are eternal.

So, let’s pray for salvation of our dear ones, for healing of the sick, for annointing of the church, for revival, for more of Jesus in us. Amen.
