Proverbs 16:1 – “The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord.”
Some of the best leaders in the world are good planners. They research extensively, weigh their options and make elaborate lists before taking crucial decisions. While a certain degree of planning is required in our personal and professional lives, it does not take into account the reality of life.
How many times have well laid plans gone off the rails because of reasons that were out of our hands? We can make all the plans and preparations we want, but we must remember that it is the Lord who reigns over all. Many times, we are caught off guard in an unplanned situation. Things may be out of our control, but they are not out of the Lord’s control.
True wisdom comes only from the Lord, and we need it more than ever in this volatile world. When we make plans, let’s remember to do it prayerfully. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide your planning. He will give you the wisdom to say the right words and do the right things, even if your plans don’t go as expected. The best practice is to plan diligently but also pray, “Lord, yet not my will but Yours be done.”
