Numbers 23:19

God is not a man that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

The Book of Numbers records Israel’s journey through the wilderness. It reveals both human weakness and God’s unwavering faithfulness. In Numbers 23:19, Balaam declares that, unlike humans, God does not lie, change His mind impulsively, or fail to fulfill His promises.

Life often teaches us to be cautious with promises. People may mean well, but still disappoint us. A friend forgets to call back, a company changes its policies overnight, or plans we trusted suddenly fall apart. Over time, many people begin to expect inconsistency from everyone around them. But today’s verse is such a comforting reminder that God is completely different from man.

Human emotions fluctuate, circumstances change, and words are often broken. But God’s nature remains constant. When He speaks, He follows through. When He promises peace, provision, wisdom, or strength, He is faithful to accomplish what He has declared.

Think about everyday life. A parent may worry about school fees, a student may feel anxious about the future, or someone working long hours may wonder if their efforts will ever bear fruit. In such uncertain moments, this verse reminds us that God’s promises are not temporary motivational words but dependable truths.

Sometimes God’s timing may not match our expectations, but His integrity never fails. If He has spoken hope into your situation, hold on to it. What God begins, He sustains. What He declares, He establishes. People and circumstances may change, but God’s character never does. So today, choose to put your trust in Him.
