Rest in the Authority of God

Psalm 46:10

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

In today’s verse, God does not merely whisper; He declares with authority. While chaos roars and fear demands attention around us, God steps forward and reminds us who is truly in charge. His voice cuts through the noise with firm authority.

When God commands, “Be still,” He speaks directly to our restless hearts. He is not asking us to deny the storm, but to stop fighting for control as if we have the solution. Much of our anxiety comes from assuming responsibilities that were never meant to be ours. We find ourselves trying to control outcomes and predict the future.

God interrupts our striving and invites us to surrender. Stillness is far more than silence; it is faith in action. It is intentionally choosing trust over fear.

Like a pilot flying above the storm, God remains steady while life feels turbulent. When we release our grip and rest in His authority, something shifts deeply within us. The storm may continue, but panic loosens its hold. Peace settles in – not because life is quiet, but because God is in complete control.

During this season of Lent, learn to be still when fear rises. Let it be a time of trusting God’s authority over your life and surrendering all that you cannot control. Be assured that the Lord reigns over every storm and is ever near to your heart.
