Romans 12:12
Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer.
In today’s verse, Paul encourages believers to do three things in their walk with the Lord: rejoice in hope, be patient during trials, and keep praying. This is the way we can keep our faith alive amid the constant turmoil in the world.
All of us battle hopelessness in some form or another. Daily life can be a struggle, and the future may seem overwhelming. Thankfully, our hope is not just in a better future, but in a God who is with us, no matter what lies ahead. Therefore, we can rejoice in the hope of a glory that is certain and secure.
As we wait for our hope to be fulfilled, we will face trials and tribulations (John 16:33). No one is immune to trouble in this world, but we have the privilege of serving the Prince of Peace who has overcome the world. We can be patient in the midst of tribulation because we know that the Lord is transforming us through our trials, and He will give us the strength to endure.
Being patient and rejoicing in hope may seem difficult, but we don’t have to do it alone. When we run to the Lord in prayer, we receive the grace we need on a day-to-day basis. If we rely on our own strength and willpower, we will burn out. But if we continue steadfastly in prayer, we can trust God to help us endure.
For today’s Lenten reflection, take time to remember all the times you’ve been able to rely on the Lord. Even as you wait for the Lord to answer your prayers, commit to being patient and rejoicing in hope. May this be a season of resisting hopelessness and being steadfast in prayer, day after day.
