Seek God in Humility

2 Chronicles 7:14 – “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

Humility seems to have become a forgotten trait in recent years. The world is such that you cannot move ahead in life unless you flaunt who you are and what you’ve accomplished. But as followers of Christ, we are called to be humble, not proud and boastful. We cannot approach God with arrogant words such as, “I deserve this” or “You must do this for me because of all that I’ve done for You”. While God is our loving Father and closest Friend, He is also the King of kings and Lord Almighty!

The only attitude that truly touches the heart of God is one of humility. We see many kings in the Old Testament who turned away from following God. But when they repented and turned back to Him in humility, God always forgave them and answered their prayers.

If you’re going through a dry spell in your life, take an honest look at your attitude. Spend undistracted time in prayer, seek God’s face and bask in His presence. Confess your secret sins to Him and repent with all your heart. God will accept your humble entreaty and hear your prayer. He will forgive your sins and heal your hurting heart. Humble yourself in front of God, and He will lift you up to greater heights in the world.
