Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.

What was Jesus’ primary purpose of coming to the Earth and dying on the Cross of Calvary? To reconcile man with God!!!

Let’s study the word reconcile. Reconcile is to restore, harmonize, make amends or even settle a dispute. No wonder Christ Jesus is crowned the Prince of Peace. In His own words, He said, “Peace I leave with you; My perfect peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.” How did Jesus bring peace? Peacemaking requires that action be taken, it requires that the peacemaker get involved, and it means that it might even get messy. Jesus was ready for all of that. He went all the way and did all it took.

Just as Jesus fulfilled His Father’s will, we are called to be Peacemakers. When we fulfil our Father’s will, we grow into being Sons of God. Being a Son spiritually means that you’ve matured and are ready for further responsibility. As a Christian, you don’t need to run away from conflicts or hide from disputes. YOU are to become a peacemaker.

Begin by asking the Lord for divine wisdom to speak what the Lord directs and do what the Lord commands. Prepare your heart by forgiving those who have caused you hurt or pain. Approach the situation and persons involved with a non-judgemental attitude and a heart of compassion. Be mindful of your words and actions, and guard your heart. If you have done all that was possible on your part and were still not able to resolve the issue, remember Romans 12:18- If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

We have a responsibility and mandate to pursue peace. May you be the one to take that first step as a ‘Son of God.’ May the Lord equip you with His Shalom peace that is divine and unfathomable by the human mind. May you rise to be a PEACEMAKER!!!
