When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Proverbs 3:24

The probability of knowing a person who is stress-free and not so busy is decreasing over time. In the hustle and bustle of life, and also the exposure to social media platforms driving surges of dopamine to the brain and finding restful sleep has become a challenge.

Medical research has proven that a lack of sleep will harm mental and physical health. Sleep deprivation has become a very common problem among all ages, and it leads to psychological issues. It has been linked to depression, suicide, and risk-taking behaviour. Children and teens who are sleep deficient may have problems getting along with others. They may feel angry and impulsive, have mood swings, feel sad or depressed, or lack motivation.

Getting enough quality sleep can help protect our mental health, physical health, quality of life, and safety. But how do you get that quality sleep?

Sleep is not merely a physical necessity but a gracious gift from God. It is a time when our bodies rejuvenate, and our minds find solace in His care. As we close our eyes in sleep, we are reminded to entrust our lives and concerns to God’s hands. Sweet sleep comes from the assurance that He is in control. Proverbs 3:24 assures us of a divine gift: sweet sleep, granted by God.

Before going to bed, spend a few moments in prayer. Surrender any worries or fears to God, trusting that He grants sweet sleep. As you lie down, reflect on His care and find rest in His promises.
