The Absolute God

Psalm 23:1 – “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.”

Other versions of the same verse say “ I have all that I need; I will never be in need; I shall want nothing; I lack nothing.”

Nothing means not any thing, it represents an absolute.  And ‘absolute’ means very great or to the largest degree possible.

Our God is Great, He is Absolute, and He is our provider and giver of all things to us, His sheep, whom He knows by name. He, as our shepherd, provides us with green pastures, our place of rest and of shelter, our source of food and water, and He protects us from predators.

Nothing, being an absolute statement, will we ever lack.  Nor will we ever be anxious for anything. (Philippians 4:6)

And finally, nothing will be able to separate us from the love of God: death, life, angels, demons, the present, the future, powers, height, or depth!  Nothing.  Not anything.  Absolutely nothing will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)

We have all that we will ever need from our absolute God! Amen!
