The Emotional Game Changer

Ezekiel 36:26: I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

Of all the promises in the Bible, this is the most special, simply because a change of heart is the first step in bringing other promises of God to fruition.

Emotions, which originate in the heart, play an integral part in the overall development of a human being. Though, the scientific world is relatively new to the influence of emotions, the Bible spoke about it thousands of years ago.

Recall the popular verse, “You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.” – Luke 10:27

Why does this verse talk about loving the Lord with all our hearts, first?

Nothing in the Bible appears by chance. The Lord knew, much before humans tested and proved, that emotional intelligence is more important than IQ. In fact, recent scientific studies have revealed that people with a higher emotional quotient outperform people with a better intelligence quotient, 70% of the time.

Have we also noticed that the Bible talks about changing our hearts more than all else?

This Sunday, let’s thank God for His powerful word that promises not just to change our hearts, but replace it with a new heart, one that is more receptive to the emotions that connect us to our Father in heaven.
