The key to a Heavenly City

Hebrews 11:16: Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

Do we go about our earthly lives with eyes fixed on heavenly rewards?

In today’s fast paced world, a carrot on a stick is the most trusted approach to achieving goals. People are motivated to give their best when a reward is up for grabs.

Isn’t it easier to work for rewards that are ‘in sight’ rather than ‘out of sight’?

But, we are called to live by faith of things unseen, because heaven is too dazzling for our earthly vision.

The magnificence of God’s dwelling place is described in part by John in the book of Revelation. He gives us a peek into heaven, but the entirety of this stellar kingdom is reserved for those who love the Lord, submit to His plan and execute it by faith, fully knowing that our God does not cut corners when rewarding loyalty.

From Able, whom God loved for his offering of faith, to John – the disciple of Jesus – whose faith was rewarded with a glimpse of heaven from the island of Patmos, the Bible is filled with champions, who lived by faith and fulfilled God’s plans through their lives. They knew that eternity with God is infinitely more rewarding than few fleeting moments of sinful pleasure on Earth.

God allocates cities in heaven for His faithful children. Are you one of them?
