The Overflowing Grace

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:8 (KJV)

In his second letter to the church of Corinth, Apostle Paul highlights two of the essential principles of being a disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ – cheerful giving and serving without grudging. This principle applies to the time, talent, and treasure we possess.

All believers in the Lord Jesus Christ are called to generous giving because we have received generously from Christ. When we introspect, every time we went to the Lord Jesus Christ in prayer, we received so much more than we requested, and we know we don’t deserve the goodness. The Lord’s grace towards us is always overflowing. The greatest gift we will ever receive is the forgiveness of our sins and the promise of everlasting life.

Even in our weakness, our Lord Jesus Christ has provided and continues to offer us His grace and strength to aid us (2 Corinthians 12:9). The reason for God’s grace to overflow in our life is that we too can be gracious to others and do the good work that God has called us to do.  Our lives’ satisfaction increases in proportion to our cheerful giving. We give because we have received and received in abundance.

Dear Lord Jesus Christ, thank You for Your grace and strength every day in our lives.
