The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous run to it and are safe. Proverbs 18:10
In times of desperation and trouble, people flee to different places seeking peace and safety. Some turn to alcohol, which goes down smoothly but in the end bites like a snake. Others turn to their wealth, but he that trusts in his riches shall fall. Still, others hope their fame and power will provide, forgetting that God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.
Being a believer does not protect you from troubles and calamities. God makes the sun rise on the evil and the good and rain on the just and unjust. As a child of God, you, however, have the privilege to see Jesus as your strong tower. You can run into the arms that will protect, comfort, and fight the victory for you.
Those lost and opposing God hunt for earthly avenues. Not realizing that every source of protection created by man is temporary and fleeting. But the righteous will know that only the name of the Lord can provide dependable protection. As Psalm 124:8 quotes, “Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made the heaven and the earth.”
So run. There is no point looking for comfort in other sources. You have the light. You have the wisdom of where your help comes from. Make haste, and as people see you running into His arms, let your Hiding place be glorified.
