James 3:17

But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.

Wisdom is the beacon that guides us in the will of God!

Have you visited a lighthouse? These spectacular structures were so essential in days gone by that without a lighthouse, sailors refused to dock their ships. And for good reason! The treacherous rocks jutting out of the sea could easily wreck a ship.

If sailors are so careful about their ships, how much more vigilant should we be about our lives?

We are vessels that carry the Spirit of God. As we navigate through life, stormy situations may arise.

Many will look at the rocks instead of the lighthouse and turn away. But retreating from the light will only elongate the shadows that stretch into an ocean of total darkness.

Au contraire, when we have our eyes fixed on God, His light will present us with the wisdom to sail through the storms of life. And at the harbour we will find the Lord waiting with open arms to welcome those who persevered.

If we feel lost in the chaos of life, maybe it is because we turned away from the light when things got tough. Here’s the thing – the dark waters in the midst of the ocean is a lonely place where anxiety and depression abound.

Let’s get back to God today and ask for His wisdom to govern our lives. Remember, the size of the ship is irrelevant. It is only the heart of the sailor that matters – a heart that beats to the will of God.
