Proverbs 24:6
By wise counsel you will wage your own war, and in a multitude of counselors there is safety.
Life is full of battles, some visible, many hidden, but every one of them belongs to the Lord. Whether it’s regarding your work, your relationships, or your spiritual walk, God’s Word makes it clear that strength comes, not from isolation, but from walking in step with His wisdom.
True wisdom begins with God. It involves seeking His direction, waiting on Him, and moving at His command. The person who fears the Lord listens first to His voice, then to people grounded in His Word, led by His Spirit, and unafraid to speak truth even when it’s hard.
Scripture warns us through the example of Rehoboam, Solomon’s son. He rejected the counsel of the elders who feared God and instead followed the foolish advice of those who told him what he wanted to hear. In doing so, he lost much of what God had entrusted to him (1 Kings 12). How often do we do the same? Turning from voices that speak God’s truth because they confront our pride or slow our plans?
God surrounds us with His wisdom through His Word, His Spirit, and the counsel of those walking closely with Him. The proud heart resists it. The humble heart welcomes it.
Before making your next decision, stop and seek Him first. Listen for His voice in prayer and in the godly counsel He provides. Let your confidence rest, not in your judgement, but in the God who leads His people in victory.
Prayer: Lord, give me the humility to seek counsel and the wisdom to receive it. Surround me with voices that point to You. Teach me to walk, not by impulse, but by wisdom. Amen.
