John 1:11-12: He came unto His own, and His own received Him not. But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God even to them that believe on His name.
Jesus was rejected by the religious leaders and also by His very own people in Nazareth, but the uneducated fishermen, the tax collectors, the prostitutes and the lame and the blind believed on His name. To them, He gave the power to become the sons of God or the children of God.
When His own people rejected Him, He was accepted by others. The Samaritans had hope in His miracles. The Roman centurion had faith in the words of Jesus. Jairus did not murmur or complain when Jesus delayed to go to his house to heal his dying daughter who was already dead when Jesus reached there. It is sad to see how we, as God’s people or professing Christians, do not want to trust God any more when He does not come to our aid at the hour that we expected Him to come. It is equally sad when some us of restrict His blessings upon our life and eventually throw Him out when things do not work the way they are supposed to be working for us. However, thank God for people who believe Him and do not doubt or question Him.
If you want to continue as the sons of God or the children of God, it is apt to receive Him in your hearts permanently. You got to believe that He is the Saviour of this world and that He came to give you life and life in abundance. You will also receive the power to be His children even when you just believe in His name which is higher than every other name. Amen.
