Learn to Pray

Luke 11:1 – Now Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples.”

Jesus did a lot of extraordinary miracles, including raising people from the dead. The disciples could have asked Him to teach them how to heal people, multiply bread, or how to get a good catch of fish. But the only thing they asked of Him was, “Teach us how to pray.” Jesus gave us a sample that we can base our prayers on, but we still have a long way to go.

Do you want to grow in your prayer life? You can start by asking the Lord to teach you how to pray. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide your prayer time. Make it a habit to pray about everything. Whether it is a petty matter that’s worrying you or a life-threatening situation that keeps you up at night, pray about it. Learn to pray at all times. Recognize the presence of God in your daily life and have a constant conversation going with Him.

Pray when life is good and pray when it is not. Pray through thick and thin, whether you hear an answer from God or not. If it’s God’s will, prayer will change your situation. If not, prayer will change you. The time you spend in prayer will give you strength and equip you to face your challenges head on. Take time to pray, and you’ll experience the joy and peace that can only come from the One who hears your prayer.
