1 Corinthians 15:57

Thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

We know the story of David, the young shepherd, and the giant Goliath. However, to give a quick summary: David, representing the nation of Israel, defeats the Philistine named Goliath. David, though from the tribe of Judah, won victory for the entire nation of Israel.

Similarly, Christ represented all of us. The Lord Jesus won over sin and defeated death. Jesus, our champion, did it for us. Therefore, it is our victory too.

Paul is making us understand the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. He took on sin and death for us. It did seem like for three days that death had won, but on the third day, Christ had risen. Our Savior broke the power of sin and death forever. The victory of the Lord Jesus becomes our victory too.

This is what sets us apart from the rest of the world. Jesus did it so we could be happy and lead a victorious life. Gratitude belongs to God, who gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Gratitude is an expression of joy. It opens up the heart to unconditional love and a multitude of blessings. Paul’s gratitude to the Lord is evident and has been his source of faith throughout. Let us give thanks to the Lord every day, for what He did for us. What a great love it is to sacrifice. Through Jesus, we are more than conquerors because He conquered death and sin, so we will not face defeat in life.
