Do not miss your reward

Mark 9:41:  For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name because ye belong to Christ verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.

We have to learn to honour God’s servants with the best that we can.  Even a cup of water given to a servant of God will fetch us reward in heaven because God is not a debtor to anyone.  While some speak ill of God’s anointed, let us learn to bless them with our words and actions.

In the Old Testament times,  people honoured angels with food not knowing that they were really angelic beings.  They mistook their identity.  In the New Testament times, apostles and disciples were honoured among God’s community. Jesus himself was invited for dinner in tax collectors’ houses.  Let us cultivate this healthy habit of honouring and holding God’s people in high esteem.  Let us learn to bless them in our best possible way.  When we learn to bless them, God returns it back to us.  We have to be kind and hospitable to them because they are the ones who teach us the ways of God and mould us in God-designed paths and ways.

If only a cup of water can fetch us a reward, how much more will we be rewarded if we give these servants of God something more than water?  They need our prayers constantly for them to stand and be strong in the grace of God.  They need our encouragement and moral support.  We need to show them that we are with them in times of distress.  We have to show our love to them in all ways possible.  May God make us a channel of blessing to all those who call upon the name of God.
