Fruit of the Spirit

2 Peter 1:3 (NKJV) – as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue.

Apostle Peter confidently says that we have everything required for life & godliness. He says that God has granted to us all those spiritual resources that help us lead a Christ-like life. Peter goes on to list those resources in verses 5-7. Apparently, we will notice that these resources are identical to the ones described by Apostle Paul in Galatians 5:22…love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

These spiritual tools are available for every child of God. However, life & godliness are attained only when we exercise these tools. Think of it as a box of crayons. Your canvas is what you make out of it. Do you want to keep your canvas plain and blank? Or do you want to give some strokes making it colorful & lively? Only when the crayons are put to use, only when they are held & exercised, only when they are planned & employed, your blank canvas will start getting meaningful.

Similarly, the spiritual tools/fruit, when used appropriately, will aid us in portraying our best in every role we play…of sibling, spouse, parent, child, employee or a neighbor. This is what helps us display Christ-likeness at every instance of life. These tools are more than adequate, equipping us with the attributes needed for life & godliness. So, let’s make the best use of this fruit of the Spirit and bring meaning to our being.
