And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.”
This chapter begins with the famous miracle of the Lord Christ multiplying five barley loaves and two small fish that a little boy generously shared. The day after this miracle, the crowds got into boats and went to Capernaum searching for Jesus. When they finally found Him, they said, ‘Show us a miracle and then we’ll believe you, just as Moses fed our ancestors with bread from heaven.’ When Jesus told them the Truth, that His Father in Heaven provided the manna in the desert, they pleaded to Jesus, ‘Then, please Sir, give us this bread everyday.”
While we are seeking for food for our physical bodies, do we have the same longing and desire for the Bread of Life? Or are we waiting in wishful anticipation for the Lord to first perform mighty miracles and wonders in our lives, and then we will believe and seek after Him…just like the crowds? Just a day before, Jesus miraculously multiplied the loaves and fish, and today, when the crowds asked Him for bread, He gives them an open invitation…to partake of HIMSELF!
Before the miracle, Jesus broke the bread and gave thanks, just as His body was broken on the cross for you. He wants you to have your miracles, He desires that your body prospers just as your soul does. A seven star dining experience is not home delivered, you’ve got to be present at the banquet to partake of it. ‘Come to me…and believe,’ calls Jesus. Will yourself to come to Him no matter what you’re struggling with on the inside. He is able to give you a refreshing spiritual Manna Experience every single day.
