In the waiting

Isaiah 40:31

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Josah squirmed impatiently and tried looking out of the window, hoping to distract his thoughts. The pressure was overwhelming. Jobless for six months now and despite the expansive experience he carried, nothing seemed to be working. The school fees were pending, the EMIs long overdue and another baby on the way. They had cut down on almost every expense that they could and now all that was left to do was wait. Wait in hopeful anticipation through the painful tears.

Waiting in such trying and challenging situations is almost like torment. You want to believe in the Word of the Lord and His promises but then are confronted by the realities of life which drown your faith.

Listen beloved. The God you serve is a roaring lion. You’ve got to trust Him despite the waters of the Red Sea before you that look like they are going to consume you and the armies of Pharaoh behind you that seem like they are going to destroy you. The Lord is faithful to ALL His promises. Stay faith-full in your waiting. Though you may feel like you are going to be overcome by the situation, your Lord has already overcome this world. Speak His Word to your heart and mind and strengthen your faith. You might feel weary and heavy laden, but He has promised to renew your strength and fill you with His mighty power. Then, when your soul has learnt to find rest in Christ, when you have learnt to be still in the storms, He will give you wings as eagles. Let this be your prayer in your waiting: Dear Lord, may my waiting be seasoned with faith, filled with songs of deliverance and my thoughts be set on things above. May your peace that passes all understanding and joy unspeakable be my portion. Teach me the discipline of waiting on You and build me in patience and faith, in Jesus’s Name!
