Living as Disciples

Proverbs 22:6 – “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.”

“Practice makes perfect.” It’s an oft-repeated quote that’s stood the test of time. A budding pianist might spend hours each day practicing the piano. An amateur footballer might spend every free hour on the field, trying to perfect their technique. It’s a tested theory – the more time and effort we spend on something, the better we get at it.

When we make an intentional daily choice to live as disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ, our efforts are not in vain. When we immerse ourselves in God’s Word, spend time in His presence and live in obedience to His will, we are fortifying our faith. We will be ready to face anything that comes our way because we know the Lord is with us.

When a child is consistently trained to do the right things, it becomes a lifelong habit. It doesn’t matter whether you learnt the truth of the Gospel as a child or as an adult, you can still practice the principles of the Bible and prepare your soul for eternity. Every choice you make in alignment with God’s will solidifies your faith and prepares you for whatever may lie ahead.

The seeds of faith and obedience you’re sowing in your life right now will bear fruit when you need it. Today, make the decision to intentionally pursue God, study His Word, and make wise life choices in obedience to His will. Trust in the Lord and He will bless every step you take.
