Not Forsaken

Psalm 27:10  – “When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take care of me.”

What does it mean to be forsaken? The dictionary defines it as being abandoned or left behind. One cannot imagine a child being left behind by his/her own parents. But sadly, all too often we hear stories of abandoned babies being rescued from alleys and roadsides. Can you imagine the angst the baby might feel – being left all alone and helpless in this world?

While you might not have been forsaken by your parents, certain people/situations might make you feel alone and unwanted. It’s not a nice feeling when you’re being sidelined by others, and made to feel like an outsider. But today’s verse provides encouragement and hope. Even if the ones you love and trust forsake you, the Lord will not. He will take care of you.

He will cover you with His feathers and protect you as the apple of His eye. He can never forget you. You are His precious child; He’s got you engraved on the palm of His hand. Even if the people of this world let you down, the Lord will lift you up. Remain faithful in your walk with God and you will see more of His handiwork in every area of your life.
