“You Are Not Your Own”

1 Corinthians 6:20 – “For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

We belong to God, we were purchased at a very high price, not with cash or a credit card. “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed…but with the precious blood of Christ.” (1 Peter 1:18-19).

And now we belong to God. And our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in (us), whom (we) have received from God.”(1 Corinthians 3:16). So our body is a temple in which the Spirit of God resides.

How can we not honor and glorify God Who is in us? We are His body, both physical and spiritual, and every part of our body is precious and important to Him, just as the church which is the body of Christ is important and whole.

We should be mindful of our physical body and ensure that it is fit and healthy and – properly – not overly – fed.  Our bodies should be holy and pure, just as Christ is holy and just as we are called to be equally holy.

What we eat, what we read, what we see, and what we think, should please and honor God.

“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31). “You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
