1 John 1:7

The Blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

In the very beginning, Adam, the first man, disobeyed God by eating the fruit of the forbidden tree (Genesis 3), and introduced sin into the world. Sin is any thought, action, or attitude that leads us to stray from God’s intended path. It forms a divide between our Creator and us. To bridge this separation, God revealed His laws through Moses and guided people toward righteousness. Under this Old Covenant, repeated animal sacrifices through the priests were required to atone for the sins of the people (Leviticus 4).

Though sin penetrated the world, true redemption came through the second Adam, Jesus Christ. Sin’s power ended through His sacrifice on the cross. When we accept Jesus as our personal Savior and live by faith in His finished work, God transforms our hearts of sin into hearts overflowing with love for Him. God gave His only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in Him shall not perish in sin (John 3:16). We are free and no longer enslaved to sin, through the precious blood of Christ, shed once and for all.

John Newton, the author of the cherished hymn “Amazing Grace”, is a powerful example of God’s redeeming power. He was once a captain involved in slave trade and lived a life steeped in sin. Yet, he encountered God’s mercy, which transformed his heart and life. He became a minister who contributed significantly to the abolition of slavery. Newton’s story illustrates the life-changing power of Christ’s blood.

Today, let us choose to live a victorious life, free from sin, by embracing Christ’s sacrifice. Don’t separate from Him; draw close to Him. Walk in the Light, and experience His amazing grace!
