Hebrews 9:15

He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.

A mediator is someone who intervenes between two parties to bring reconciliation. Under the Mosaic Covenant, the high priests served as mediators between God and His people. Atonement for sins was possible only through animal sacrifices. Each time a person sinned, they had to confess to the priest, and an animal had to shed its blood on their behalf.

The first covenant revealed humanity’s transgressions, yet it also pointed toward the ultimate sacrifice that was to come. Today’s verse states that Christ stands as the Mediator of the New Covenant. He meets this role perfectly. He bridges the gap between a Holy God and sinful humanity, offering reconciliation through His own blood (Hebrews 8:6).

Unlike the Old Covenant, which required repeated sacrifices, Jesus’s sacrifice was once and for all. Through His death, He opened the way for all who are called to receive the promise of eternal inheritance. A future secured forever.

Christ redeems us fully, freeing us from the judgment we rightfully deserved. Our inheritance rests not on our merit but on Christ’s perfect sacrifice and God’s amazing grace (Ephesians 2:8–9). His blood seals our salvation, and His covenant guarantees it. So, we no longer approach God in fear or through repeated sacrifices. We come boldly, knowing that our Mediator has already paid the price for our sins.

So today, let us walk in the freedom and gratitude assured by the New Covenant. We are redeemed, called, and destined for the eternal inheritance. That is the unshakeable truth that no lie can steal!
