Psalm 145:13

Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your dominion endures throughout all generations.

Psalm 145 is a song of praise, penned by King David to extol the Lord as the Eternal King. David was the greatest king to ever rule the kingdom of Israel. Yet, he honoured God as the Almighty King of an everlasting kingdom and the ultimate Ruler of all the earth. In today’s verse, David proclaims that God’s authority is not restricted to a particular place or time period but endures through all generations for eternity.

The word “dominion” refers to supreme authority, sovereignty, or control over a territory or people. It implies absolute ownership or mastery over everything under the ruler’s purview. Knowing that our world, as chaotic as it may seem, is still under God’s dominion ought to give us a sense of reassurance and peace.

News of what’s happening in the world may be discouraging, but those of us who hope in the Lord need not despair. The Lord our God is the King of kings and Lord of lords. He is the supreme authority over all the powers in the world (Daniel 2:21). And because we belong to His eternal kingdom, we’re secure in His care.

Regardless of what you’re going through today, remember that nothing is beyond God’s jurisdiction. Trust that the Lord is righteous and just. He will set right every wrong and establish His dominion in every area that you surrender to Him.

So, take a moment to go over everything that’s on your mind today. Release your worries and cares into God’s capable hands. Let the Lord reign over your life and everything that concerns you. He will surely give you all the wisdom and grace you need to live for His glory.
