John 14:3

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

Lord Jesus was encouraging His chosen ones, preparing them for the hardships ahead. The disciples were about to experience several days of fear and loss. They knew that He was going to walk the path of suffering and the crucifixion, followed by Christ’s joyous resurrection. After His ascension, and continuing to today, those who follow Christ could be subject to persecution.

During the days of trials, we believers should hold firmly and trust in the promises of our God. The words and miracles of the Lord Jesus give us the confidence to trust Him. Among those are His guarantee that He is preparing to come for us, so we can be where He is. Jesus also promises the indwelling of the Holy Spirit who will guide us and give us constant reminders of His words. Both for the disciples and for us, these words are meant to be comforting during our difficult times.

When we encounter setbacks and failures and feel sorrow and pain, God will heal the pain in our hearts, and guide us in our day-to-day lives. Deuteronomy 31:6 assures us that He will not fail or forsake us. During this uncertain times, we may not know exactly why we suffer, but God’s Word tells us how we can endure. We serve a great God who divided the Red Sea and made the Israelites walk through dry land. Be still. Stand strong. Fear not. We will not be ashamed. He will make a way where there seems to be no way!

Always remember, no one who trusts in the Lord will ever be disgraced (Psalm 25: 3).
